This past weekend a group of friends and I went to Deep Cove for the first time. I had been told that I HAD to go to Honey Doughnuts. I am not usually a doughnut fan. I would never choose a doughnut over any other sweet item, so I was shocked when I fell in love with the doughnuts at Honey Doughnuts. I wasn’t even planning on reviewing the place until I took my first bite.
As the name suggests, their doughnuts are made with honey. The outside is sweet, puffy, crispy and oily and delicious! They would make a killing if they made chips out of the crispy outer layer. The inside was your traditional cakey doughnut. I thought it tasted a bit too much like dough though, and that’s the only reason it did not get the full 5 glove rating. Make sure you get the original, they often have other flavours, but you don’t want to mess around with runners up.
Breakfast at Honey Doughnuts was pretty good, nice and simple, and healthier than you would find at most places. It has the home cooked taste. The service is pretty sub par, but you will continue to back back regardless.
Here’s a picture of my friend Ian. He insisted he make it into this post as it was his idea to feature Honey Doughnuts on Crumb Fight. He wishes he had flexed for the photo, so just imagine him with a 6 pack and some guns.
